Hard oak floors look great and add warmth to your home interior when a professional team does hardwood floor installations in Jericho, NY. Hardwood flooring can become scratched and dull as it ages due to the wear and tear of daily use.
However, unlike other types of flooring, hardwood flooring has the potential to make a comeback. All you need to do is find the right professional for wood floor refinishing service in Jericho, NY.
Refinishing is required to keep your hardwood flooring in good condition. Whatever type of hardwood floor you have, refinishing may be the perfect solution in NY. Everything you need to get ready for the project is mentioned below.
1) Look For Signs Indicating It's Time To Refinish
When floors are made of wood, it is normal for minor scratches to appear on the surface. However, deep scratches, cracks, and dents in the wood must be addressed as soon as possible.
A color change indicates that the surface layer has been damaged, and the timber's integrity has been compromised. This color change typically comes as grey; once it reaches the grey color, it becomes evident to have the floor refinishing.
When you notice scratches or dents and the boards' color has changed, or they have begun to warp, it is time to perform some maintenance. While color change is an early indicator of damage, especially from water, warping is another typical symptom when moisture becomes a significant issue.
Taking care of these issues early on can save you time and money. Therefore, it's better to hire a professional flooring company near me in Jericho, NY, as soon as possible.
2) Know About Experience & Expertise
Before hiring a flooring company near me in Nassau County for your house to finish hardwood floors, you should consider a few things.
You should know about their years of experience, polyurethane type, how they handle dust control during the process, and other factors.
You must also shortlist flooring companies in Jericho, NY, that will meet your expectations. It is the only way to obtain competitive pricing from various companies in NY.
Some people will plan a Do-it-yourself project. However, it does not work for wood floor refinishing projects. This is because a single error here will be pretty costly to repair.
Furthermore, high-quality wood finishing pieces of equipment are not available for rent. Instead, you must understand that only a wood floor restoration professional in Jericho, NY, can do it correctly.
3) While Refinishing Wood Floors In Your Home
If you are planning to refinish your hardwood floors, you should plan on being gone for at least a week. This is because each coat could take a day or more to complete. The sanding portion of the job will take one or two days, depending on the square footage.
Therefore, do you have any idea when you will finish your wood floors? You must leave the house for a few days. This is the longest step because finish and color take time to dry.
4) Making a Perfect Budget Plan
You must budget not only for the work of the professionals in NY but also for the cost of multiple coats of finish if you do not need to replace the wood floors.
It is one of the primary reasons why people seek refinishing work. So, bring a unique budget plan and implement it correctly and professionally.
5) How Much Time Will It Take?
A complete wood floor restoration project usually takes between 3 to 7 days. Some people choose to relocate because it can be disruptive and cluttered during this time.
There is less mess to clean up with dust-free sanding. The refinishing is of higher quality, so no dust settles into the finish; customers are also happier as there is no mess.

Some information about Jericho, NY
Jericho is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in Nassau County, New York, United States, on the North Shore of Long Island, approximately 29 miles (47 km) east of Midtown Manhattan. Its population was 13,567 as of the U.S. 2010 Census.
Located mainly in the Town of Oyster Bay with a small part in the Town of Hempstead, Jericho was part of the Robert Williams Plantation in 1648. The English families who settled in Jericho were, or soon became, Quakers, members of the Society of Friends. Many fled from persecution in England and in the New England Colonies. They sought a peaceful existence as farmers. The name of the area was changed in 1692 from Lusum to Jericho after the town in the Middle East near the Jordan River mentioned in the Bible as part of the Promised Land.
Elias Hicks married Jemima Seaman in 1771 and moved to her family‘s farm in Jericho, where he soon became a noted preacher of Quaker doctrine. All the Quakers suffered during the British occupation of Long Island in the Revolutionary War. The practice was to quarter troops in homes of residents, who had to provide room and board for them. The Quakers continued to protest the entire concept of war itself. After the war, peace returned to Jericho, and the neat farms and businesses began to prosper. A Friends Meeting house was built in 1788 in Jericho that is still used in the 21st century. A Quaker school was built in 1793, the Charity Society of Jericho and Westbury in 1794, and slavery was abolished in 1817, with Hicks’ help.
Platt Rogers Spencer’s Log Seminary in Jericho, New York
A post office was established in 1802, a cider mill in the mid-19th century, the first public elementary school in 1905, known as the Cedar Swamp School. Improvements to infrastructure were made with the founding of the Jericho Water District in 1923. As the population increased, a new elementary school was built in 1953 (Robert Seaman School), and a Volunteer Fire Department established in 1938. The population kept increasing until the last elementary schools in Jericho were built, the George A. Jackson Elementary School in 1957, the now closed Robert Williams School in 1961 and the Cantiague School in 1963. When the Village of Muttontown was incorporated, the cider mill was within the village limits. Because most Gold Coast villages wanted to remain business free areas, many do not have their own post offices or ZIP Codes. Therefore, Jericho Post Office which serves this area of Muttontown is displayed as the official USPS mailing address and leads to the misconception that the cider mill is in Jericho.
